Refund Policy

This Refund Policy applies to all services purchased from Dear Heir (operated by MindTurf Pvt. Ltd.) at dearheir.com. We are committed to treating every client fairly. This policy is written in plain English because we believe you deserve to understand exactly what you are agreeing to before you pay.

1. Photo Legacy - $97

This is a single 90-minute Google Meet consultation producing a Digital Estate Summary PDF delivered within 48 hours.

  • Full refund: If requested any time before the session begins. No questions asked.
  • No refund: After the session has been delivered. The session constitutes full delivery of the service.
  • Partial credit: If you experienced significant technical difficulties during the session that prevented us from completing the audit through no fault of your own, we will offer a complimentary follow-up session or a 50% credit toward another service – at our discretion and following review.

2. Digital Audit - $397

This is a multi-session engagement (3–4 sessions over 2–3 weeks) producing a complete Digital Succession Portfolio.

  • Full refund: If requested before Session 1 begins. No questions asked.
  • 50% refund ($748.50): If requested after Session 1 is delivered but before Session 2 begins.
  • No refund: After Session 2 has begun. By Session 2, substantial work has been completed including the full Digital Estate Summary and initial platform configurations.
  • Exception – significant service failure: If Dear Heir fails to deliver agreed sessions within the committed timeframe through our fault (not yours), and you no longer wish to proceed, we will offer a pro-rated refund based on sessions not yet delivered.

Note: The $1,497 price covers the entire engagement, not individual sessions. Requesting a refund mid-engagement ends the service relationship for that engagement.

3. Legacy Masterplan - $1,497

This service involves uploading, processing, organising, and delivering your family photos to your personal cloud account.

  • Full refund: If requested before we begin processing your photos (before we receive your uploaded files or before we begin working on received files).
  • No refund: After processing has begun. Photo processing involves significant specialist time that cannot be recovered.
  • Re-delivery at no charge: If the organised photos were not delivered to your satisfaction due to our error (wrong folder structure, missing photos, etc.), we will re-process and re-deliver at no additional charge.

Important: If you experience technical difficulties uploading your photos, contact us – we will assist you and your refund window remains open until processing begins.

4. Guardian Plan - $297 per year

The Guardian Plan is an annual subscription that renews automatically on your anniversary date.

  • Free cancellation before renewal: Cancel at any time before your next renewal date at dearheir.com/cancel-guardian. No charge for the upcoming year. No phone call required.
  • Refund within 30 days of renewal: If you cancel within 30 days of an annual renewal date, we will refund a pro-rated amount for unused months.
  • No refund after 30 days of renewal: After 30 days from the renewal date, no refund is available for that year’s subscription.
  • How to cancel: Visit dearheir.com/cancel-guardian and follow the instructions. You can also email hello@dearheir.com. We will confirm cancellation within 2 business days.

FTC Compliance Notice: In accordance with the FTC’s Click-to-Cancel requirements, the Guardian Plan can be cancelled online at dearheir.com/cancel-guardian in no more steps than it takes to subscribe. No phone call, no retention conversation, no waiting period.

5. Account Closure Service - $147

This is a single guided session for closing or memorialising digital accounts following a bereavement.

  • Full refund: If requested before the session begins.
  • No refund: After the session has been delivered.

We understand that clients booking this service are often going through a difficult time. If your circumstances change and you need to reschedule, we will accommodate with no fee and no time limit.

6. Discovery Call - Free

Our Discovery Call is a free 20-minute consultation. There is nothing to refund. There is no obligation to purchase any service following the call.

7. How to Request a Refund

Step 1: Email hello@dearheir.com with subject line “Refund Request.”

Step 2: Include your name, the service purchased, the date of purchase, and a brief description of your request (no detailed explanation required for pre-session cancellations).

Step 3: We will respond within 3 business days to confirm eligibility and next steps.

Step 4: Eligible refunds are processed within 10 business days to your original payment method. Depending on your bank, the credit may take 3–7 additional business days to appear on your statement.

8. Non-Refundable Items

The following are not eligible for refunds under any circumstances:

  • Services where delivery is confirmed complete and the client has received the deliverable (Digital Estate Summary PDF, Digital Succession Portfolio, organised photo albums)
  • Sessions where the client did not attend and provided no notice (no-show)
  • Guardian Plan renewals more than 30 days after the renewal date
  • Any service where refund was requested outside the windows described in this policy

9. Exceptional Circumstances

We are a small business that genuinely cares about our clients’ situations. If you are experiencing circumstances not covered by this policy – bereavement, serious illness, significant technical failure outside your control – please contact us directly at hello@dearheir.com. We will review your situation and respond with fairness.

We will not hide behind policy language to avoid doing the right thing for a client in genuine difficulty.

10. FTC Compliance

This Refund Policy is written in full compliance with the Federal Trade Commission’s guidelines for services, including the updated Telemarketing Sales Rule (November 2024) and the FTC’s specific guidance on services marketed to elderly consumers. All material terms of this policy are disclosed before any payment is required.
